Data-driven Digital Social Innovations in Africa
The Data-Driven Digital Social Innovations in Africa programme is developing a citizen science water monitoring prototype for the Limpopo River Basin that has a direct impact on water resource management. The prototype includes tools that enable citizens to collect data and be paid via blockchain technology for data that is uploaded into the new LIMCOM Digital Twin. This initiative aims to enhance the role of citizen science in informing water management decisions by engaging citizens in data collection, creating pathways for civic action based on scientific data, and democratizing citizen data collection to ensure it is valued by decision-makers and drives meaningful change in water management
