
The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has appointed Johan Gely as Asia Director for Research Impact. In this new role, Gely will provide strategic direction to reinforce IWMI’s development impact and contribute to the institute’s engagement and influence across the Asian continent.
His leadership will focus on advancing research delivery, improving the responsiveness and effectiveness of IWMI’s research capabilities, and ensuring their alignment with evolving regional needs, thereby creating sustainable water management solutions that are specifically tailored to the diverse requirements of Asia.
During his 30 years of professional experience, Johan Gely has been advising governments, Think Tanks, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, multi-lateral global platforms in transitional economies, fragile states as well as low income and emerging market economies on a range of projects, initiative, programs, regional and global platforms in Switzerland, Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), Africa (Mauritania and South Sudan) and Latin America (Peru).
Gely studied Agricultural Engineering in Louvain, Belgium where he graduated in 1994.
