Cameroon

Cameroon is a nation of abundant water resources, from the Sanaga River to the Yaérés floodplains in the north. There is extensive surface and groundwater supply, replenished by consistent rainfall. However, conflict over water reserves is increasing driven by climate change, population growth and urbanization straining water availability.

Cameroon faces significant water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) issues — particularly poor access to clean drinking water and water-related illnesses. Environmental challenges are also degrading the water supply, such as deforestation and industrial pollution.
