Commission on Water for Food Futures
The Commission on Water for Food Futures (CWFF) is a global, multi‑institutional initiative focused on rethinking how water is managed within food systems to meet future water and food security challenges. A shift is urgently needed towards innovative, contextualized approaches that meet rising food demands while protecting ecosystems, livelihoods, and health. Building on the findings of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water, the CWFF will assess current science, policy, and practice to guide strategic thinking and generate practical recommendations for balancing water and food security by 2040. It brings together diverse expertise from research, policy, and practice to identify innovative solutions, connect actions across scales—from farms and basins to national and global policy—and catalyze collective action and investment. Through a co‑creation process with Commissioners, specialists, and stakeholders from across regions, the CWFF will shape a high‑level report and global dialogue to guide transformative change in water and food systems.
