CGIAR Accelerator for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion
The Accelerator for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion will play a vital role in building an enabling external environment for gender equality and social inclusion research within food, land and water systems. CGIAR’s efforts will accelerate the growth and impact of gender equality and social inclusion and will continue influencing the global discussion on gender equality and youth engagement.
The accelerator will help with generating 12 high-level outputs, harnessing high-level support and startegic partnerships and unlocking $16 million for research and programs. It will address the challenges of;
- Systemic, complex and deeply entrenched social inequalities and gender disparities in food, land and water systems
- $10 trillion lost per year because of lack of investments on basic skills for women and in gender equality
- Widening income gap between men and women exarcerbated by the climate crisis, as households run by women lose $53 billion per year more than men
- A pressing need for multi-actor, multi-sectoral and evolutionary solutions to promote human rights to gender equality and social inclusion
