Adaptation Insights
The project aims to develop a comprehensive, standardized framework for tracking the effectiveness of climate adaptation strategies in agricultural water management. This will be achieved by:
- Compiling and reviewing existing adaptation tracking protocols and indicators from CGIAR and other partners.
- Systematically evaluating RS, ML, and big data approaches to measure adaptation effectiveness across rainfed and irrigated systems.
- Testing and refining these approaches in selected countries to validate their applicability and accuracy.
- Developing a digital platform and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for easy access and consistent application of these protocols.
- Facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing among CGIAR centers and partners to ensure broad adoption and continuous improvement.
The project will deliver:
- A comprehensive database of indicators and methods for tracking adaptation effectiveness in AWM, categorized by intervention type, hazard, and cropping system.
- A peer-reviewed publication analyzing the opportunities and challenges of RS/ML-based adaptation tracking.
- Validated RS and water accounting frameworks with refined indicators for multi-scale adaptation monitoring.
- A detailed SOP to guide CGIAR centers and external partners in implementing standardized adaptation tracking protocols.
- An integrated digital repository hosted on existing CGIAR knowledge platforms to facilitate easy access and use of adaptation tracking tools and data.
