Umar Liaqat

Senior Regional Researcher – Water Systems Modelling


Umar Liaqat served as a water resources specialist at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia and Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea. He has participated in projects by using modern state-of-the-art hydrological modeling, geographic information system and remote sensing techniques to develop innovative and easily applicable solutions to manage agricultural land and water productivity for improving food security. Liaqat has authored or co-authored more than 20 publications mostly in peer-reviewed journals. He has worked extensively in five major river basins across the world, including those in Asia, Australia, and Middle East and North Africa regions.
