Tosin Somorin

Researcher - Circular Economy Waste Management


Tosin has over 10 years of multidisciplinary research experience in the areas of clean energy development and sustainable value recovery from waste. Her research interests lie in the sustainable conversion of waste to value-added products through circular bioprocesses. This research area addresses global energy inequalities and waste problems, contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs 7, 11 & 13 “affordable and clean energy”, “sustainable cities and communities” and “climate action”. Before joining IWMI, Tosin was with the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and served as a Lecturer/Chancellor’s Fellow in Energy. She holds a PhD in Gas Turbine Technology & Biofuels from Cranfield University, UK, and Master of Science in Biotechnology from the University of Hertfordshire, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria.
