Thato Mabele

Assistant Research Officer - Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)


Thato Mabele is an emerging researcher with over two years of experience at IWMI. At IWMI, she supports the Water Research Commission project on community participation in municipal water services, gaining insight into governance systems at local and municipal levels, the Water and Soil Accelerator (WASA) and Scaling for Impact Science Programs. Mabele’s work centers on understanding how gender, social inclusion and local governance shape access to water and natural resources in Southern and Eastern Africa. Her research work at IWMI gives her the opportunity to translate the community’s needs into policy and practice using integrated approaches.
