National Researcher - Policy and Water Governance


Sumitra KC’s work focusses mainly on water governance and policy. She has experience and expertise in groundwater governance, citizen science-based data collection, engagement in legislative processes, policy dialogues, stakeholder and institutional mapping, and conducting mixed method research. KC’s past experience in reputed organizations like BBC Media Action, Scott Wilson Nepal, the Environment Friendly Local Governance Programme and ICIMOD involved range of interdisciplinary research projects including local governance, climate change, disaster risk reduction and management, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, renewable energy, gender based violence and humanitarian response. KC is skilled in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research and has expertise in a variety of data collection and analysis tools. She has a deep passion for environmental sustainability and committed towards inclusive and climate resilient solutions for natural resources management.

KC holds a Master of science in Natural resources management from the Asian Institute of Technology and received the ‘Nepal Vidhya Bhusan’ award in recognition of her academic excellence in the field.
