Smaranika Mahapatra

National Researcher - Water Data Modelling


Smaranika joined IWMI in 2020. She has done her B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering from OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha in 2014 and her master’s from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, West Bengal, India in Land and Water Resources Engineering. She is also pursuing her Ph.D. in IIT Kharagpur, focusing on deriving an optimal solution for water resource allocation in a river basin of Odisha, considering ecosystem demands. During those periods, she got involved in the village survey and interactive participatory processes, field experiments on understanding the vadose zone flow processes, and surface-subsurface hydrological modeling. She has also published her work in reputed international journals in the field of soil sciences and hydrology.
