Shavkat Kenjabaev
National Researcher - Water Resources Management
Shavkat M. Kenjabaev has an impressive 20-year track record in the fields of land reclamation and irrigation water management. Over the course of his career, Kenjabaev has dedicated his expertise to studying the intricacies of soil and groundwater regimes, particularly under conventional and modern irrigation practices. Additionally, he has conducted comprehensive assessments of capacity needs within water sector training institutions, delved into the analysis of natural patterns and faults within irrigation and drainage networks and possesses a unique combination of both research and practical experience.
With a Doctor of philosophy in Agriculture from the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen in Germany, Kenjabaev has extensively examined the challenges faced by eco-hydrology and irrigation water management in Central Asia. Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous projects funded by organizations such as SDC, UNDP, FAO, JICA, USAID, GIZ, and UNESCO. These projects have allowed him to contribute his expertise in areas such as land reclamation, irrigation water management, and capacity building in the water sector. Furthermore, he has actively sought opportunities for collaboration at the transboundary level, with the goal of enhancing water security, improving land and water productivity, and promoting environmental sustainability.
