Pallavi Rajkhowa

Pallavi Rajkhowa is an agricultural economist with over 14 years of experience advancing sustainable food systems and rural development. She has published widely in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including Food Policy, Food Security, Social Science & Medicine and the Journal of Agricultural Economics, among others, and brings extensive expertise in policy advocacy and program management. Before joining IWMI, Rajkhowa worked as an Associate Research Fellow at the Tata-Cornell Institute at Cornell University and the Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn. Earlier in her career, she worked as a junior researcher with the International Food Policy Research Institute, the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations and the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Rajkhowa is currently engaged with the CGIAR Sustainable Farming and Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Food Systems programs, as well as an ICAR project. She holds a Doctor of philosophy in Agricultural economics from the University of Bonn, a Masters of arts in Economics from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics and a honors Bachelors of Arts in Economics from the University of Delhi. In 2022, Rajkhowa’s doctoral research received the Excellence in Applied Development Research Award from the Development Economics Committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik and the KfW Development Bank.
