Nafn Amdar

Senior Research Officer - Water Resources Management and Accounting


Nafn Amdar brings over nine years of experience working on applied research and development projects across the Middle East and North Africa region, with a focus on water accounting, irrigation monitoring and water conservation and management. She has contributed to projects that use remote sensing and data-driven approaches to support agricultural water productivity and inform water management decisions.

Amdar specializes in hydrological modelling, water accounting and irrigation management. Her work also spans remote sensing, irrigation performance assessment and water conservation, with a consistent focus on translating technical outputs into evidence that informs water policy and planning.

Amdar holds a Doctor of philosophy from IHE Delft and Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences. She also holds a Master of science in Environmental sciences and management from the Hashemite University in Jordan, and a Bachelor’s degree in Water resources and civil engineering from the University of Homs in Syria.
