May Attallah

National Researcher - Innovation Scaling and Partnership


May Attallah brings over seven years of experience as an economist applying behavioral insights to environmental sustainability. Before joining IWMI, Attallah was a postdoctoral researcher at the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment in Nancy, France, where she advised the French Agency for Ecological Transition on incentives to support the adoption of sustainable biomass harvesting practices and on the role of hydrogen technologies in energy transition. At IWMI, she works on the Al Murunah project, focusing on scaling water innovations to strengthen agricultural resilience in the MENA region.

Attallah holds a Doctor in philosophy in Behavioural and experimental economics from the University of Rennes 1. She also holds a Master’s in Public policy and development from Toulouse School of Economics, and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
