Gerald Atampugre

Regional Researcher - Social and Natural Science

He is an integrated geographer with deep interest in how social-ecological system dynamics delineate exposures, vulnerabilities, and adaptations to environmental and climate risk markers, particularly in developing countries. His current research interest is on a range of issues around productive landscape sustainability and the social science of climate change. Currently, as a researcher with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI-Ghana), he undertakes multidisciplinary research for development aimed at transforming land and water resources for agrifood systems resilience in West and Central Africa. He is currently the focal person for the co-designing of inclusive landscape management plans (ILMPs) for 4 target countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Burundi) under the CGIAR initiative called Transforming AgriFood Systems in West and Central Africa (TAFS-WCA). He is also a Research Fellow of the Adaptation, Community, and Environment (ACE) Research Group in the University of Adelaide, South Australia. His recent work with ACE borders on co-creation of socially just green transitions.
