Regional Researcher - Groundwater Management


Malalgoda has 23 years of experience in groundwater resources development, management, and emergency rehabilitation for communities affected by disasters. His expertise includes groundwater resources investigation, aquifer testing, geo-structural, geological and geophysical techniques for groundwater resources development, GIS, remote sensing for groundwater applications, and groundwater project management. Malalgoda is a Chartered Geologist with a B.Sc. in Geology (Honors), an M.Sc. in Remote Sensing & GIS, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Groundwater exploration water resources exploitation and conservation from the University of Jerusalem, Israel. Prior to joining IWMI, he worked as a Hydrogeologist and Manager of Groundwater Investigation at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board in Sri Lanka.
