Crop modelling agricultural water management participatory action research survey design digital agriculture urban agricultureDennis previously held the position of National Researcher at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT) in Zimbabwe. In this role, Dennis led and implemented participatory action research techniques within agroecological living labs, ensuring active involvement of farmers and communities in sustainable agricultural initiatives. His contributions included designing research questions, crafting survey tools, collecting and analyzing data, and implementing co-created solutions for sustainable agriculture. Prior to his work at CIMMYT, Dennis served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Transformative Agricultural and Food Systems, University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. He contributed to the Sustainable Agriculture Matrix (SAM) Consortium project through stakeholder engagement workshops, survey design, and refining of SAM indicators in collaboration with stakeholders in the South African agricultural sector. Dennis’ career journey includes lecturing at the University of Zimbabwe, where he taught undergraduate courses in water resources management and environmental science and conducted research on GIS applications in sustainable agriculture. Dennis supervised student projects that focused on agriculture and water resources management while contributing to curriculum development. Dennis holds a PhD in Water Resources Science from Rhodes University, where he focused on modelling climate change and agroecosystem services in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. He obtained a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Planning from the University of Zimbabwe and a Bachelor of Science Honors in Applied Environmental Science.
