Emeritus Scientist


(PhD) is Scientist Emerita at the International Water Management Institute, based in the IWMI Southern Africa office in Pretoria. She has led and continues to participate in multi-country (action-) research in Anglophone and Francophone Africa and Asia on water laws and legal reform, also from a human rights perspective, and community-led water service delivery for multiple uses. She is lead-author and -editor of five books and (co-) author of over 180 international peer-reviewed publications. Currently she is Theme Leader on Multiple use water services (MUS) with the Rural Water Supply Network and member of FAO’s expert group on water tenure. She served as member of the Board of the Water Research Commission South Africa, and the Steering Committee of the Global Water Partnership.
