Abhijit Behera

Research Officer - Land and Water Management


Abhijit joined IWMI in 2023 and holds a B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering from CUTM, Paralakhemundi, Odisha (2020), and an M.Tech. in Land and Water Resources Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal, India. His research encompasses agricultural water demand assessment in the Damodar River Basin, encompassing the states of West Bengal and Jharkhand. Previously, he served as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) at ICAR-IIWM, contributing to the World Bank-funded project Rejuvenating Watersheds for Agricultural Resilience through Innovative Development (REWARD). His work focused on quantifying hydrological fluxes, implementing soil and water conservation measures, promoting crop diversification, and advancing sustainable water resource management in Nayagarh district, Odisha. He has disseminated his findings through publications in high-impact international journals specializing in remote sensing and hydrology.
