World Toilet Day 2021

Each year, World Toilet Day (19 November) highlights the importance of sanitation and hygiene and the importance of taking action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. This year’s theme is ‘Valuing Toilets’.

Lack of toilets affect us all. Poor sanitation contaminates drinking-water sources, rivers, beaches and food crops. More toilets ensure a cleaner and safer environment. Safe toilets, clean water and good hygiene form an essential barrier against the spread of deadly diseases like COVID-19, typhoid and cholera.

We invite you to explore this page to discover the importance of valuing water and improved sanitation services and learn more about our promising new sanitation innovations.
