Session Overview:
This session explores current capabilities, success stories, gaps, and challenges in Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems (EWS) across various hazards, including floods, droughts, landslides, Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), cyclones, typhoons, severe storms, earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires, and extreme temperature events. It also highlights future opportunities to enhance these systems, ensuring greater resilience and preparedness for diverse and interconnected risks.
Heatwaves are intensifying yet remain under-addressed in early warning systems. This session focuses on how data, forecasts, and risk communication can converge to deliver timely alerts, protect public health, and support adaptive urban planning in the face of extreme heat.
