DESCRIPTION:\nA wetland may not sound like the most exciting place. “Wet 
 land” after all\, feels incidental rather than critical. And yet wetland
 s are home to 40 percent of our planet’s species. 400 million people liv
 e close to wetlands and depend on them for survival – for food\, for wat
 er\, and for their livelihoods. That’s why we choose to celebrate world 
 wetlands day each year.\n\n\n\nThis year’s theme is freshwater\, and it
 ’s a theme close to our heart. After all\, we’ve worked on projects in
  freshwater wetlands from Ghana to Myanmar\, and understand how critical t
 hese freshwater wetlands are for food and work.\n\n\n\nMost importantly\, 
 perhaps\, is the role of wetlands in climate change. They provide protecti
 on against storm surges and coastal flooding\, and also vital carbon stora
 ge systems: some wetlands can store up to 50 times more carbon than rainfo
 rests\, and they play an important role in water purification.\n\n\n\nThey
  are vital for our today\, and they are vital for our tomorrow. Which is w
